The Beach Boys este o trupă americană de rock înființată în 1961 în California. S-a remarcat prin armoniile vocale și ingeniozitatea muzicală. Sub conducerea lui Brian Wilson, grupul a încorporat adesea elemente clasice sau jazz și tehnici de înregistrare neconvenționale, devenind una dintre formațiile cele mai influente ale erei rock.
Compilația Sunflower / Surf's Up a apărut în 2000 pe CD la casa de discuri Capitol Records. Reunește două albume de la începutul anilor '70 — Sunflower (piesele 1–12) și Surf's Up (piesele 13–22). Conține în total 22 de piese, printre care se remarcă This Whole World, Forever, Long Promised Road și Surf's Up, care dă titlul compilației.
