Epica este o formație olandeză de metal simfonic, fondată în 2002 de chitaristul Mark Jansen după plecarea sa de la After Forever. Muzica lor îmbină vocea feminină de operă cu vocalii death metal, aranjamente orchestrale și elemente de metal progresiv, folosind adesea pasaje în limba latină în versuri.
Compilația We Still Take You With Us – The Early Years a apărut în 2022 la casa de discuri Nuclear Blast pe patru viniluri și documentează creația timpurie a formației. Conține 59 de piese, incluzând înregistrări din perioada de debut, versiuni de concert și demo-uri din era Sahara Dust. Printre compozițiile remarcabile se numără The Phantom Agony, Cry for the Moon, Sensorium și alte imnuri timpurii care au pus bazele sonorității caracteristice a grupului. Compilația include și versiunea germană Falsches Spiel, precum și aranjamentul la pian al piesei Feint.
La momentul lansării, Epica era formată din Simone Simons (voce), Mark Jansen (chitară), Isaac Delahaye (chitară), Coen Janssen (claviaturi, vocalii de acompaniament), Rob van der Loo (bas) și Ariën van Weesenbeek (tobe).
