Saxon este o formație britanică de heavy metal fondată în 1975 în Barnsley, Yorkshire, fiind unul dintre grupurile de frunte ale noului val al heavy metal-ului britanic (NWOBHM). În anii '80, au avut opt albume în clasamentul britanic Top 40 și au cunoscut succesul în toată Europa și în Japonia.
Compilația Decade of the Eagle: The Anthology 1979–1988 pe vinil a apărut în 2017 la casa de discuri Union Square Music și cuprinde 34 de piese din decada cea mai faimoasă a formației. Antologia acoperă perioada de glorie maximă a Saxon – de la debut până la sfârșitul anilor '80, când grupul a definit sunetul NWOBHM prin riff-urile sale grele caracteristice și concertele energice. Printre piesele prezente se numără Wheels of Steel, Princess of the Night, Denim and Leather și The Eagle Has Landed.
În momentul apariției acestei compilații, Saxon era format din cvartetul Biff Byford (voce), Paul Quinn și Doug Scarratt (chitare) și Nibbs Carter (chitară bas).
