Running Wild este o trupă germană de heavy metal din Hamburg, renumită în special pentru tematica piratică a pieselor sale, pe care a început să o dezvolte odată cu albumul Under Jolly Roger din 1987. Alături de alte formații germane, a fost printre pionierii scenei power și speed metal din anii optzeci.
Compilația Riding the Storm: The Very Best of the Noise Years 1983–1995 a fost lansată în 2016 pe 2 CD în digipack la casa de discuri Noise. Conține 32 de înregistrări din perioada de aur a trupei, de la piese timpurii precum Victim of States Power și Genghis Khan, la clasicele Under Jolly Roger și Port Royal, și până la compoziții ulterioare precum Riding the Storm, Blazon Stone sau Genocide. Albumul oferă o privire de ansamblu asupra creației Running Wild din anii de colaborare cu casa Noise.
La momentul lansării, formația era alcătuită din Rolf Kasparek, Peter J. Jordan, Peter Pichl și Rüdiger Dreffein.
