Saxon este o trupă britanică de heavy metal fondată în 1976 în Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Se numără printre liderii Noului Val al Heavy Metal-ului Britanic (NWOBHM) și în anii '80 au influențat numeroși urmași, printre care Metallica și Megadeth.
Albumul de debut Saxon a fost lansat pentru prima dată pe 21 mai 1979. Această reeditare pe CD de la Union Square Music conține în total 22 de înregistrări – pe lângă albumul original, oferă versiuni demo ale pieselor, înregistrări din sesiunea BBC Radio 1 și piese live. Printre piesele cheie se numără Frozen Rainbow, Stallions of the Highway și Judgement Day.
În momentul lansării albumului, trupa era formată din Biff Byford (voce), Graham Oliver și Paul Quinn (chitare), Steve Dawson (chitară bas) și Pete Gill (tobe).
