Saxon este o trupă britanică de heavy metal din Barnsley, Yorkshire, una dintre formațiile de frunte ale noului val al heavy metal-ului britanic (NWOBHM). În anii '80 a avut opt albume în topul britanic Top 40 și a obținut succes nu doar în Marea Britanie, ci și în Europa și Japonia. Muzica lor a inspirat trupe ulterioare precum Metallica sau Megadeth.
Albumul The Eagle Has Landed a apărut în mai 1982 ca prima înregistrare live a trupei și a ajuns pe locul 5 în clasamentul britanic al albumelor. A fost înregistrat în timpul turneului european de promovare a albumului Denim and Leather. Selecția include clasice precum Motorcycle Man, Heavy Metal Thunder, Wheels of Steel sau Princess of the Night. Acum apare în reeditare pe CD cu 16 piese în total, extinsă cu piese bonus înregistrate live la Hammersmith din Londra.
La album a participat componența trupei în frunte cu Biff Byford (vocal), Paul Quinn și Graham Oliver (chitări), Steve Dawson (chitară bas) și Nigel Glockler, care a debutat aici ca toboșar al trupei.
