Archie Shepp este un saxofonist de jazz și compozitor american, figură distinctă a jazzului avangardist din anii '60.
Albumul Four For Trane pe LP prezintă versiunea remasterizată a omagiului adus de Shepp operei legendarului saxofonist John Coltrane. Pe disc se pot asculta compoziții Coltrane precum Syeeda's Song Flute, Cousin Mary sau Naima, pe care Shepp le interpretează în stilul său caracteristic. Ultima piesă, Rufus (Swung, His Face at Last to the Wind, Then His Neck Snapped), este compoziția proprie a lui Shepp.
