The Beatles a fost o trupă rock britanică din Liverpool, una dintre cele mai apreciate de critici și de succes comercial formații din istoria muzicii pop. Activitatea lor a definit forma muzicii rock și pop din anii '60.
Albumul Revolver a apărut pe 5 august 1966 la casa de discuri Parlophone și a marcat o schimbare semnificativă în sunetul trupei The Beatles – grupul a experimentat intens cu efecte de studio și a extins paleta sonoră de la chitare rock la cvartet de coarde și influențe orientale. Revista Rolling Stone a clasat albumul pe locul al treilea în topul celor mai bune 500 de albume din toate timpurile. Această ediție extinsă, pe cinci CD-uri, include în total 63 de înregistrări, inclusiv versiuni alternative, înregistrări de studio și mixaje ale unor piese precum Tomorrow Never Knows, Eleanor Rigby sau Yellow Submarine. Revolver a fost ultimul album după a cărui lansare The Beatles au mai înregistrat ca trupă de concerte.
La album au contribuit John Lennon (chitară, voce), Paul McCartney (chitară bas, voce), George Harrison (chitară, voce) și Ringo Starr (tobe).
