Chuck Berry a fost un chitarist, cântăreț și compozitor american, unul dintre pionierii rock and roll-ului. Cu piese precum Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven, Rock and Roll Music și Johnny B. Goode, a dezvoltat din rhythm and blues elementele principale ale genului, cu versuri dedicate vieții adolescenților și cu solo-uri de chitară ce au avut o influență fundamentală asupra muzicienilor rock ulteriori.
