Trupa britanică de heavy metal Black Sabbath se numără printre pionierii heavy metal-ului. Grupul din Birmingham a contribuit la definirea genului prin primele albume de la sfârșitul anilor '60 și începutul anilor '70, devenind o formație fundamentală în istoria rockului.
Albumul Heaven and Hell a fost lansat pe 25 aprilie 1980 la casa de discuri BMG și este al nouălea album de studio al trupei. Acesta este primul disc pe care vocalistul original Ozzy Osbourne a fost înlocuit de Ronnie James Dio, fostul solist al trupei Rainbow. Producătorul Martin Birch a supravegheat înregistrarea, iar albumul a devenit un succes comercial și de critică, obținând certificare de platină în SUA în 1986. Această ediție pe 2CD conține 19 piese, inclusiv albumul original, versiuni de single și variante live ale pieselor Neon Knights, Children of the Sea sau titulara Heaven and Hell, înregistrate în 1980 la Hartford și un an mai târziu la Hammersmith Odeon din Londra.
La album au colaborat în 1980 Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Nicholls și Vinny Appice.
