Dark Funeral este o trupă de black metal suedeză fondată în 1993 la Stockholm. Textele lor se concentrează pe satanism, iad și teme anticreștine.
Albumul The Secrets of the Black Arts a apărut în ianuarie 1996 ca album de studio de debut al trupei la casa de discuri No Fashion Records. Inițial înregistrat în Unisound Studios a lui Dan Swanö, nemulțumită de sunet, trupa a ales să reînregistreze albumul în studioul Abyss al lui Peter Tägtgren. Astăzi este considerat un album de cult al scenei black metal suedeze. CD-ul conține 11 piese, inclusiv piesa principală The Secrets of the Black Arts, atmosferica Shadows Over Transylvania și finala de aproape șase minute Dark Are the Path to Eternity.
La album au colaborat Equimanthorn, Alzazmon, Typhos, Emperor Magus Caligula, Blackmoon, Themgoroth, B-Force, Lord Ahriman și Tomas Nilsson. Este singurul album al trupei cu chitaristul Blackmoon, vocalistul/basistul Themgoroth și toboșarul Equimanthorn.
