Dream Theater este o trupă americană de progressive metal, fondată în Boston în 1985. Este considerată unul dintre cei mai importanți reprezentanți ai genului și este cunoscută pentru virtuozitatea execuției, compoziții complexe și îmbinarea sunetului heavy metal cu rock-ul progresiv.
Albumul live New York City 3/4/93, în format LP, surprinde un concert susținut în martie 1993 la New York și a fost lansat de casa de discuri Inside Out Music în 2007. Înregistrarea conține 15 piese, inclusiv Metropolis – Pt. I: The Miracle and the Sleeper, Pull Me Under, Take the Time și piesa A Change of Seasons, de aproape douăzeci de minute. Albumul documentează sunetul trupei în perioada clasică, după succesul Images and Words.
În momentul înregistrării concertului, Dream Theater era formată din James LaBrie (voce), John Petrucci (chitară), John Myung (chitară bas), Mike Portnoy (tobe), Jordan Rudess (clape) și Steve Stone.
