Dream Theater este o trupă americană de metal progresiv fondată în 1985 la Boston. Se numără printre cei mai importanți reprezentanți ai genului, cunoscută pentru perfecțiunea tehnică, compoziții complexe și expresia instrumentală virtuoasă.
Albumul Lost Not Forgotten Archives: Making Of Falling Into Infinity (1997) pe CD oferă o perspectivă unică asupra procesului de studio de creare a albumului Falling Into Infinity. Înregistrările surprind straturile individuale ale pieselor — de la pistele de bază (tobe, chitară bas, chitară), prin overdub-uri de piane, instrumente cu corzi și chitare acustice, până la vocale și detalii finale. Sunt incluse versiuni alternative, improvizații de studio și vocalele invitate ale lui Doug Pinnick pe Lines In the Sand.
