Epica este o trupă olandeză de symphonic metal fondată în 2002, care a câștigat recunoaștere prin combinarea vocii de soprană a lui Simone Simons cu vocalele dure ale lui Mark Jansen și cu aranjamente orchestrale.
EP-ul The Alchemy Project a apărut pe vinil colorat (toxic green marbled) ca o lucrare conceptuală unde formația este completată în fiecare dintre cele șapte piese de invitați de seamă din scena metal. Printre colaboratori se numără membri ai formațiilor Fleshgod Apocalypse, Uriah Heep, Kamelot, Shining, Soilwork, God Dethroned, Aborted, Insomnium și Powerwolf. Lista pieselor include The Great Tribulation, Wake the World, Sirens - Of Blood and Water și Death is not the End.
La EP au contribuit Mark Jansen (chitară), Isaac Delahaye (chitară), Coen Janssen (clape), Rob Van Der Loo (chitară bas) și Arien Van Weesenbeek (tobe).
