Europe este o trupă suedeză de hard rock fondată în 1979 în orașul Upplands Väsby, lângă Stockholm. Au obținut primul mare succes în 1982, câștigând concursul TV Rock-SM, care le-a deschis drumul spre o carieră internațională. Trupa se numără printre cele mai de succes formații rock scandinave, cu vânzări de peste 20 de milioane de albume în întreaga lume.
Compilația Rock the Night: The Very Best of Europe a fost lansată în 2004 de casa de discuri Epic ca dublu CD, conținând în total 32 de piese. Spre deosebire de selecția anterioară 1982-1992, pe care vocalistul Joey Tempest a compilat-o singur, piesele de pe acest album au fost alese în comun de toți membrii trupei. Selecția cuprinde cele mai mari hituri, inclusiv The Final Countdown, Carrie, Rock the Night și Open Your Heart, completate de versiunea acustică a piesei I'll Cry for You și înregistrarea live Time Has Come.
În momentul lansării albumului, trupa era formată din Joey Tempest (voce), John Levén, Mic Michaeli și Ian Haugland.
