Trupa scoțiano-americană de rock Garbage s-a format în 1994 în Madison și a vândut peste 16 milioane de discuri în întreaga lume. Grupul este alcătuit din cântăreața scoțiană Shirley Manson și muzicienii americani Duke Erikson, Steve Marker și Butch Vig, cunoscut pentru producția albumelor Nirvana și Smashing Pumpkins.
Albumul beautifulgarbage a apărut pe 1 octombrie 2001 la casa de discuri Mushroom Records și a marcat o oarecare îndepărtare de sunetul prezent pe primele două albume ale trupei. Discul a fost realizat pe parcursul a peste un an, în timpul căruia solista a ținut, una dintre primele din industria muzicală, un blog pe internet despre procesul de creare. Albumul combină rock-ul cu electronica, hip-hop-ul, new wave și influențe girl groups, oferind melodii mai puternice și versuri mai directe. Această ediție remasterizată pe 3 CD-uri conține în total 48 de piese, inclusiv melodii bonus precum Candy Says, Wild Horses (live) sau Pride (In the Name of Love) (live). Remasterizarea a fost realizată de Billy Bush și Butch Vig.
La album au contribuit Duke Erikson (chitară bas, chitară, clape), Steve Marker (chitară), Butch Vig (tobe) și Shirley Manson (voce).
