Judas Priest este o formație heavy metal britanică din Birmingham, fondată în 1969. Alături de Iron Maiden și Saxon, reprezintă vârful curentului New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Albumul dublu The Essential Judas Priest a apărut în 2006 pe CD la casa de discuri Sony Music UK și oferă o retrospectivă a activității formației de la anii șaptezeci până la albumul Angel of Retribution. Compilația conține 34 de piese pe două discuri și include clasice precum Breaking the Law, You've Got Another Thing Coming sau Electric Eye. Selecția omite albumul de debut Rocka Rolla și era vocalistului Tim „Ripper” Owens.
Pe album activează formația alcătuită din chitariștii Kenneth Downing și Glenn Tipton împreună cu basistul Ian Hill.
