Georg Friedrich Händel a fost un compozitor baroc german care a trăit la Londra începând cu anul 1712 și a obținut cetățenia britanică. Împreună cu Bach, se numără printre cei mai interpretați compozitori baroci; a compus peste patruzeci de opere și treizeci de oratorii.
Albumul Cambridge Messiah pe CD prezintă cel mai celebru oratoriu al lui Händel, Messiah (Mesia), pe care compozitorul l-a finalizat în 1741. Lucrarea, scrisă pentru soliști, cor și orchestră, este una dintre pietrele de temelie ale muzicii sacre mondiale, iar corul său Hallelujah este cunoscut în întreaga lume. Această înregistrare redă interpretarea ansamblului din Cambridge.
