Liquid Tension Experiment este un supergrup american de progressive metal instrumental fondat în 1997. Trei dintre membrii săi fac parte din trupa Dream Theater, al patrulea fiind basistul cunoscut din King Crimson și din proiectele lui Peter Gabriel.
Albumul Liquid Tension Experiment 3 a fost lansat în aprilie 2021 de casa de discuri Inside Out Music și reprezintă prima înregistrare de studio a grupului de la Liquid Tension Experiment 2 din 1999. Ediția pe Blu-ray cu două discuri conține treisprezece piese, printre care se remarcă instrumentalul de aproape paisprezece minute Key to the Imagination și piesa progresivă Hypersonic. După mai bine de două decenii, trupa s-a reunit în formula completă și și-a confirmat poziția în lumea rock-ului instrumental exigent din punct de vedere tehnic.
La album au contribuit John Petrucci la chitară, Mike Portnoy la tobe, Jordan Rudess la clape și Tony Levin la bas.
