Metallica este o trupă americană de thrash metal fondată în 1981 la Los Angeles. Se numără printre cele mai de succes formații metal din lume și printre reprezentanții cheie ai thrash metalului anilor optzeci.
Albumul S&M2 (Symphony and Metallica 2) a fost lansat în 2020 de casa de discuri Blackened și surprinde o înregistrare de peste două ore și jumătate din concertele comune ale trupei Metallica și San Francisco Symphony, care au avut loc pe 6 și 8 septembrie 2019 la Chase Center din San Francisco. Este continuarea proiectului de succes S&M din 1999. Această ediție pe 3 discuri CD oferă 25 de piese, incluzând hituri clasice precum Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters sau Master of Puppets, precum și compoziții orchestrale de Prokofiev și Mosolov.
În 2019, trupa era formată din membrii fondatori James Hetfield (chitară, voce) și Lars Ulrich (tobe), alături de chitaristul Kirk Hammett și basistul Robert Trujillo.
