Pianistul de jazz jamaican Monty Alexander este o personalitate proeminentă a genului, îmbinând în stilul său influențe caraibiene, swing, bebop și blues. De-a lungul carierei a colaborat, printre alții, cu Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Brown și Ernest Ranglin.
Compilația The Montreux Years pe CD, lansată în 2022 de casa de discuri BMG, reunește nouă înregistrări din concertele lui Alexander la legendarul festival Montreux Jazz Festival. Setul surprinde repertoriul său variat: de la piese instrumentale standard (Work Song, Night Mist Blues) și cântece tradiționale jamaicane (Linstead Market) până la clasicele reggae, inclusiv medley-ul No Woman No Cry / Get Up Stand Up, un omagiu adus lui Bob Marley.
