Mott the Hoople a fost o trupă britanică de rock cu rădăcini puternice în muzica R&B, care a dominat scena glam rock din prima jumătate a anilor '70. S-a făcut cunoscută mai ales pentru piesa All the Young Dudes, scrisă pentru ei de David Bowie, un admirator al formației.
Albumul All the Young Dudes a fost lansat în 1972 la casa de discuri Columbia, fiind al cincilea album de studio al trupei și totodată primul lor material pentru CBS Records. Pe lângă piesa de titlu semnată de Bowie, CD-ul conține 16 piese, inclusiv o preluare a piesei Sweet Jane, apoi piesele Momma's Little Jewel, One of the Boys și Ready for Love / After Lights. Piesele bonus cuprind versiuni demo, versiuni alternative și două înregistrări live din concertul de la Hammersmith Odeon din 1973.
La momentul lansării albumului, trupa era formată din Ian Hunter (voce, chitară, pian, chitară bas), Mick Ralphs (chitară, clape, vocal de acompaniament), Verden Allen (vocal de acompaniament), Overend Watts (chitară bas, chitară, voce) și Dale Griffin (tobe, percuție, vocal de acompaniament).
