Nazareth este o trupă scoțiană de hard rock fondată în 1968 la Dunfermline, care a obținut succes internațional datorită albumului Hair of the Dog și hitului Love Hurts.
Al zecelea album de studio, No Mean City, a fost lansat în ianuarie 1979 la casa de discuri Mountain Records. Titlul albumului este inspirat dintr-un roman din 1935 despre bandele de stradă din Glasgow, iar coperta a fost ilustrată de renumitul artist fantasy Rodney Matthews. Odată cu venirea chitaristului Zal Cleminson de la Sensational Alex Harvey Band, sunetul albumului a devenit mai puternic. Single-urile principale Star și Whatever You Want Babe s-au bucurat de un mare succes și au permis trupei să concerteze alături de Thin Lizzy. Albumul conține 8 piese și este primul din 1972 care nu include nicio preluare.
La momentul lansării, grupul era format din Dan McCafferty (voce), Manny Charlton și Zal Cleminson (chitare), Pete Agnew (chitară bas), Darrell Sweet (tobe), John Locke (clape) și Lee Agnew.
