New Order este o trupă britanică de rock, un reprezentant important al genurilor new wave și synth-pop. S-a format în 1980 din membrii rămași ai Joy Division după sinuciderea solistului lor, Ian Curtis. Trupa este alcătuită din Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris și Gillian Gilbert; în anii '80 a devenit celebră prin îmbinarea post-punk-ului cu muzica electronică și ritmuri dance.
Albumul Low-Life a fost lansat în mai 1985 la casa de discuri Factory Records și este al treilea album de studio al New Order. Discul marchează momentul în care trupa și-a finalizat definitiv transformarea de la rădăcinile sale post-punk la un sunet synth-pop care a influențat o întreagă generație. Înregistrarea se caracterizează prin texturi reci de sintetizator, linii de bas melodice și o producție experimentală. Conține piese emblematice precum The Perfect Kiss, Love Vigilantes sau instrumentalul Elegia. Această ediție extinsă pe cinci discuri oferă albumul original, versiuni instrumentale rare și înregistrări din sesiunile de compunere, precum și înregistrări de concert din Tokyo, Rotterdam, Toronto și alte orașe din 1985. Majoritatea materialelor bonus nu mai fuseseră lansate până atunci.
La momentul lansării albumului, formația era alcătuită din patru membri: Bernard Sumner (chitară, voce, sintetizatoare), Peter Hook (chitară bas, sintetizatoare), Stephen Morris (tobe, percuție, sintetizatoare) și Gillian Gilbert (chitară, sintetizatoare).
