Queens of the Stone Age este o trupă americană de rock din California, caracterizată prin riff-uri dure de chitară și o orientare către stoner rock și hard rock. Frontmanul Josh Homme descrie stilul formației ca fiind „robot rock”.
Songs for the Deaf este al treilea album de studio al trupei, lansat pe 27 august 2002 de casa de discuri Interscope Records. Această ediție dublu vinil cuprinde 14 piese. Albumul funcționează ca un concept liber — o călătorie muzicală prin deșertul californian, în care, prin acordarea posturilor de radio, alternează sunetele și excesele spațiului american. Cele mai importante hit-uri au fost No One Knows, Go with the Flow și A Song for the Dead. Albumul a obținut recunoaștere internațională și a ridicat Queens of the Stone Age la un nivel nou.
La album au colaborat Nick Oliveri (chitară bas, voce), Dave Grohl (tobe), Mark Lanegan (voce, clape), Troy Van Leeuwen (chitară, clape), Joey Castillo și Gene Trautmann (tobe), Brendon McNichol (chitară, steel guitar).
