Compozitorul american Steve Reich este considerat un pionier al minimalismului, deși opera sa depășește cu mult limitele acestui stil. A dezvoltat o serie de procedee compoziționale care au influențat cursul istoriei muzicale — printre acestea fazația (phase shifting), în care frazele repetitive se deplasează unele față de altele, creând noi modele sonore, și lucrul cu înregistrări pe bandă magnetică. Muzica sa este caracterizată de motive repetitive, ritmicitate armonică lentă și canoane.
Collected Works este un box set amplu de 26 de CD-uri care sintetizează opera lui Reich publicată de casa de discuri Nonesuch pe parcursul a patruzeci de ani de activitate. Colecția acoperă perioada de la experimentele minimaliste timpurii It's Gonna Rain (1965) până la cele mai recente lucrări Traveler's Prayer (2020) și Jacob's Ladder (2023).
