Trupa germană de hard rock Scorpions a fost fondată în 1965 la Hanovra de chitaristul Rudolf Schenker. Se numără printre cele mai cunoscute și longevive formații rock, devenind un sinonim pentru heavy metalul melodios și baladele rock puternice. Singurul membru permanent este Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine cântă cu trupa din 1969.
Albumul Tokyo Tapes a apărut în 1978 ca primul album live al trupei și totodată ultima înregistrare cu chitaristul Uli Jon Roth. Înregistrarea concertului din turneul japonez include piese precum All Night Long, In Trance, We'll Burn the Sky sau o versiune cover a piesei Hound Dog. Această reeditare pe vinil galben conține versiunile remasterizate din 2015.
