Simple Minds este o trupă scoțiană de rock fondată în 1977 la Glasgow. Din formația originală fac parte și astăzi vocalistul Jim Kerr și chitaristul Charlie Burchill. Trupa a devenit una dintre cele mai de succes formații ale anilor '80 și '90, ajungând pe primul loc în topurile din SUA cu piesa Don't You (Forget About Me) (din coloana sonoră a filmului Clubul celor cinci).
Compilația 5 Album Set a apărut în 2012 la casa de discuri EMI ca un set de 5 CD-uri cu 53 de piese care acoperă creația trupei de-a lungul carierei. Include atât înregistrări new wave clasice din perioada timpurie (In Trance as Mission, Love Song, Sons and Fascination), cât și hituri din perioada de vârf a anilor '80 (Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, New Gold Dream). Compilația prezintă diferitele faze ale sunetului Simple Minds — de la post-punk atmosferic la synth-rock grandios, care a consacrat trupa pe plan mondial.
La apariția acestei compilații, Simple Minds era formată din: Charlie Burchill (chitară, clape), Jim Kerr (voce), Andy Gillespie (clape) și Ged Grimes (chitară bas).
