The Temptations este o trupă americană de soul care a devenit faimoasă în anii '60 și '70 datorită înregistrărilor pentru casa de discuri Motown. Cunoscuți pentru coregrafiile lor caracteristice, armoniile distinctive și costumele scenice spectaculoase, sunt considerați unul dintre cele mai influente ansambluri din muzica soul. În 1989, au fost incluși în Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Temptations Sing Smokey a fost lansat în 1965 de Motown și reprezintă al doilea album de studio al trupei. Particularitatea albumului constă în faptul că conține douăsprezece piese compuse și produse exclusiv de Smokey Robinson, membru și lider al grupului The Miracles, împreună cu alți membri ai acestei formații. Printre ele se numără hituri ca My Girl, The way you do the things you do și You've Really Got a Hold on Me.
În momentul lansării albumului, trupa era formată din Paul Williams, Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, David Ruffin și Eddie Kendricks.
