The Waterboys este o trupă britanică de folk rock și muzică celtică fondată în 1983 de muzicianul scoțian Mike Scott. Creația lor se caracterizează prin referințe literare și abordează frecvent teme spirituale, ceea ce le-a adus recunoașterea atât a criticilor de rock, cât și a celor de folk.
Albumul A Rock in the Weary Land a fost lansat în 2000 de casa de discuri BMG International și Razor & Tie, fiind al șaptelea album de studio al trupei. După o pauză de șapte ani, albumul continuă stilul rock dur al albumului anterior Dream Harder (1993). Cele paisprezece piese includ compoziții mai lungi, precum My Love Is My Rock in the Weary Land de opt minute, dar și mai scurte, precum My Lord, What a Morning de două minute jumătate.
