Warren Zevon a fost un cântăreț și compozitor american de rock, cunoscut pentru versurile sale provocatoare, pline de umor negru și referințe politice. Printre cele mai celebre piese ale sale se numără Werewolves of London, Lawyers, Guns and Money și Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.
Stand In The Fire a apărut inițial în 1980 și a fost înregistrat în timpul unei serii de cinci zile de concerte la The Roxy Theatre din vestul Hollywood-ului, în august 1980. Albumul conține versiuni live ale celor mai mari hit-uri ale lui Zevon, inclusiv Excitable Boy și Poor, Poor Pitiful Me, și prezintă două piese originale noi (Stand in the Fire și The Sin), plus un cover Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger. Ediția pe vinil a fost dedicată lui Martin Scorsese.
