Trupa americană de rock 10,000 Maniacs s-a format în 1981 și în anii '80 și '90 a devenit o prezență importantă pe scena alternativă americană. Solista Natalie Merchant a fost figura cheie până în 1993, când a început o carieră solo.
Înregistrarea live MTV Unplugged datează din 1993, când trupa a cântat în popularul format acustic MTV. Albumul cuprinde 17 piese, printre care hituri precum These Are Days, Candy Everybody Wants, Trouble Me și adaptarea piesei lui Patti Smith Because the Night. Un fapt interesant este că între înregistrare și lansare Natalie Merchant a părăsit trupa — albumul reprezintă astfel ultima ei apariție alături de formație. Această reeditare este lansată pe 2 CD-uri.
