David Gilmour este un chitarist, vocalist și compozitor britanic, renumit mai ales ca membru al grupului de rock progresiv Pink Floyd. A lansat mai multe albume solo și se implică activ în activități caritabile.
Albumul Live in Gdańsk a fost lansat în 2008 la casa de discuri Parlophone, în format 4CD digipack. Înregistrarea surprinde concertul din cadrul turneului On an Island, care a avut loc pe 26 august 2006 în spațiul șantierului naval din Gdańsk, Polonia, în fața unei audiențe de aproximativ cincizeci de mii de spectatori. Concertul a marcat aniversarea revoluției poloneze din anii 1980. Setul cuprinde în total 59 de piese, incluzând atât material de pe albumul solo On an Island (Castellorizon, On an Island, Smile), cât și compoziții clasice Pink Floyd (Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Comfortably Numb, Echoes).
