Steve Hackett este un compozitor și chitarist britanic care a devenit celebru ca membru al trupei de rock progresiv Genesis (1971–1977), cu care a înregistrat șase albume de studio. După plecarea din Genesis, s-a dedicat unei cariere solo; muzica sa acoperă rock progresiv, blues, jazz și muzică clasică. În 2010 a fost introdus în Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ca membru Genesis.
The Circus and the Nightwhale a apărut în 2024 la casa de discuri Inside Out Music pe suport LP. Albumul cuprinde 13 piese de rock progresiv cu elemente de art rock. Printre melodii se numără, de exemplu, People of the Smoke, Circo Inferno, Into the Nightwhale și White Dove. Hackett demonstrează din nou spectrul său stilistic larg — de la pasaje melodice la tranziții instrumentale mai complexe, caracteristice creației sale.
