The Kinks este o trupă rock engleză fondată în 1963 la Londra de frații Ray și Dave Davies. Sunt considerați una dintre cele mai influente trupe rock din anii șaizeci și, alături de The Beatles, The Rolling Stones și The Who, au definit invazia britanică. Al treilea single al lor, You Really Got Me, a devenit un hit internațional și a ajuns pe primul loc în Regatul Unit.
Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One a fost lansat în noiembrie 1970 la casa de discuri Sanctuary Records ca al optulea album de studio al trupei. Este un album conceptual care satirizează industria muzicală — editori, sindicate, presă, contabili, manageri și viața în turneu. Albumul a marcat extinderea trupei la cinci membri odată cu sosirea claviaturistului John Gosling. Această ediție pe CD conține în total 18 piese, inclusiv bonusuri — versiuni alternative ale Apeman și This Time Tomorrow, precum și mixul mono single al piesei Lola.
În momentul lansării albumului, The Kinks erau formați din Dave Davies, Ray Davies, Mick Avory, John Gosling și John Beecham.
