The Living End este o trupă rock australiană din Melbourne care combină rockabilly, punk și rock. Sunetul caracteristic al formației este creat de un instrument neobișnuit pentru muzica rock — contrabasul. Trupa a câștigat popularitate largă în Australia și în străinătate datorită pieselor energice și spectacolelor live dinamice.
Albumul The Living End a fost lansat în octombrie 1998 la casa de discuri Modular Recordings și a ajuns pe locul 1 în clasamentul australian ARIA Albums Chart. Materialul conține 24 de piese pe 2 CD-uri — primul disc aduce albumul de studio înregistrat la Sing Sing Studios din Melbourne, al doilea disc cuprinde un concert live înregistrat la studioul triple j din Sydney în noiembrie 1998. Printre hit-urile principale ale albumului se numără Prisoner of Society, Second Solution și West End Riot. Această reeditare apare la BMG.
La momentul lansării, trupa era formată din Chris Cheney (voce, chitară), Scott Owen (contrabas) și Travis Demsey (tobe).
