The Living End este o trupă australiană care combină punk, rockabilly și rock. O trăsătură distinctivă a sunetului lor este utilizarea contrabasului, un instrument neobișnuit în componența standard a unei trupe rock.
Albumul The Living End a fost lansat în octombrie 1998 de casa de discuri Modular Recordings, înregistrat la Sing Sing Studios din Melbourne cu producătorul Lindsay Gravina. Discul a ajuns pe prima poziție în topul australian ARIA și conține piese de succes precum Prisoner of Society sau Second Solution. Această reeditare aniversară de 25 de ani este disponibilă ca dublu vinil în tiraj limitat de 1000 de exemplare, cuprinde 24 de piese, un booklet de lux de 36 de pagini cu fotografii rare și o înregistrare live mult timp pierdută de la radio triple j din 1998.
La momentul lansării albumului, formația era alcătuită din Chris Cheney (voce, chitară), Scott Owen (contrabas) și Travis Demsey (tobe).
