The Pogues este o trupă britanică ce îmbină muzica irlandeză tradițională cu punk-ul. Fondată în 1982 la Londra sub numele Pogue Mahone, trupa folosește instrumente precum tin whistle, banjo, mandolina și acordeonul.
Compilația The Very Best Of… a apărut în 2001 la casa de discuri Warner Strategic Marketing și conține în total 21 de piese din repertoriul trupei. Selecția include piese emblematice precum Fairytale of New York, Dirty Old Town, The Irish Rover sau A Pair of Brown Eyes. CD-ul este ambalat într-o carcasă din plastic cu copertă lucioasă.
În componența de la momentul lansării figurau Jem Finer, Spider Stacy, Andrew Ranken, Darryl Hunt și David Coulter.
