The Skatalites este o trupă jamaicană legendară care a jucat un rol esențial în formarea și răspândirea genului ska. Activă încă din anii '60, a colaborat cu mulți artiști jamaicani, inclusiv Bob Marley și Prince Buster, înregistrând piese clasice precum Guns of Navarone.
Compilația Essential Artist Collection pe 2 CD-uri a fost lansată în 2023 de casa de discuri BMG. Colecția reunește 50 de piese care reprezintă activitatea trupei în genurile ska și reggae. Printre înregistrările remarcabile se numără Alley Cat Ska, Watermelon Man, Guns Fever și Lucky Seven.
În formula de la momentul lansării s-au aflat Lester Sterling (saxofon), Kevin Batchelor, Anant Pradhan și solista Doreen Shaffer.
