Sting, cântăreț, compozitor și basist englez din Newcastle upon Tyne, a fost până în 1985 principalul membru al trupei rock The Police. Creația sa solo combină elemente de rock, jazz, reggae și world music.
Albumul Bring On the Night, lansat în 1986 pe dublu CD la A&M Records, este primul album live al lui Sting, înregistrat în timpul turneului din 1985. Titlul provine dintr-o piesă The Police de pe albumul Reggatta de Blanc (1979). Înregistrarea conține piese de pe albumul solo de debut The Dream of the Blue Turtles și material mai vechi din perioada The Police, adesea combinate în medley. În total, 13 piese surprind diferite faze ale creației lui Sting.
În turneu l-a însoțit o formație de jazz: Branford Marsalis (saxofon), Darryl Jones (chitară bas), Kenny Kirkland (clape) și Omar Hakim (tobe). Suportul vocal a fost asigurat de Janice Pendarvis și Dolette McDonald.
