Trupa americană de hard rock Van Halen s-a format în 1972 în Pasadena, California. Grupul a devenit celebru pentru spectacolele live pline de energie și pentru virtuozitatea chitaristului Eddie Van Halen, care a adus hard rock-ul înapoi în prim-planul scenei muzicale.
Setul de vinil The Brown M&Ms include primele șase albume de studio cu vocalistul David Lee Roth — Van Halen (1978), Van Halen II (1979), Women and Children First (1980), Fair Warning (1981), Diver Down (1982) și 1984 (1984) —, toate în versiunea remasterizată din 2015. Albumul de debut Van Halen a devenit disc de platină și a pus bazele erei în care Van Halen s-a numărat printre cele mai populare trupe de rock din lume.
