Desmond Dekker a fost un cântăreț și compozitor jamaican, una dintre primele vedete internaționale de succes ale genurilor ska și reggae. Printre cele mai mari hituri ale sale se numără Israelites (1968), 007 (Shanty Town) (1967) și It Mek (1969). A avut succes în Regatul Unit încă din anii '60; Trebuia să concerteze la Praga în iunie 2006, însă recitalul nu a mai avut loc din cauza decesului său neașteptat în mai aceluiași an.
Compilația King of Ska pe 2 CD-uri prezintă creația timpurie din perioada 1963–1967, când Dekker înregistra pentru casa de discuri jamaicană Beverley's Records a producătorului Leslie Kong. Colecția include 40 de single-uri ska, printre care King of Ska, 007, Dracula, Mount Zion și altele. A fost lansată de Trojan Records în 2023.
