Dream Theater este o formație americană de metal progresiv, înființată la Boston în 1985. Trupa se numără printre cei mai importanți reprezentanți ai metalului progresiv și îmbină elemente de hard rock și heavy metal cu tradiția rock progresiv a anilor 1970. Creația sa se caracterizează printr-un stil virtuoz de interpretare, structuri compoziționale complexe și instrumentație solicitantă.
Albumul Awake Demos 1994 a apărut pe vinil în 2006 la casa de discuri Inside Out Music. Conține versiuni demo ale înregistrărilor pentru albumul Awake, lansate pentru prima dată pe LP. Include unsprezece piese, printre care Scarred, 6:00, The Mirror și Space-Dye Vest. Discul este lansat într-o copertă gatefold pe vinil de 180 de grame și este însoțit de un CD.
În formula Dream Theater din 2006 au activat Mike Portnoy la tobe și vocal secundar, John Myung la chitară bas și Chapman stick, John Petrucci la chitară și vocal secundar, James LaBrie la voce principală, Jordan Rudess la clape și Steve Stone.
