Epica este o trupă olandeză de metal simfonic fondată în 2002 de Mark Jansen după plecarea sa din After Forever. Stilul muzical al grupului combină elemente operistice și voci de death metal cu pasaje progresive și orchestrale.
Albumul live Omega Alive a apărut în 2021 la casa de discuri Nuclear Blast sub formă de dublu CD în digipack. Înregistrarea cuprinde 15 piese, inclusiv compoziții extinse precum Kingdom of Heaven – Part III și Kingdom of heaven: a new age dawns, part v, precum și piesele The Skeleton Key și Freedom – The Wolves Within. Albumul surprinde energia și precizia tehnică prin care trupa se remarcă pe scenă.
La momentul lansării, Epica era formată din mezzosopranistă Simone Simons (voce principală), Mark Jansen și Isaac Delahaye (chitare), Coen Janssen (claviaturist, voci de acompaniament), Rob van der Loo (chitară bas) și Ariën van Weesenbeek (tobe).
