Prince (1958–2016) a fost un cântăreț, compozitor și multi-instrumentist american, renumit pentru registrul său vocal extins, personalitatea androgină și crearea sunetului Minneapolis, care a îmbinat funk, R&B, rock și pop. Câștigător de șapte ori al premiului Grammy, a fost inclus în Rock and Roll Hall of Fame în 2004 și este considerat unul dintre cei mai productivi muzicieni ai ultimelor decenii.
Albumul Diamonds And Pearls a apărut în 1991 ca al treisprezecelea album de studio al lui Prince — a fost primul proiect cu noua sa trupă de acompaniament The New Power Generation.
