Saxon este o trupă britanică de heavy metal, unul dintre reprezentanții de frunte ai Noului Val al Heavy Metal-ului Britanic. În anii '80 a obținut un succes considerabil și a influențat numeroase formații ulterioare, inclusiv Metallica și Megadeth.
Rock the Nations este al optulea album de studio al formației Saxon, lansat în septembrie 1986 la casa de discuri EMI. Această ediție extinsă conține în total 17 piese, incluzând înregistrări bonus – printre acestea versiunile single ale Waiting for the Night și Northern Lady, înregistrări live din Madrid (Everybody Up, Dallas 1pm) și trei piese de la legendarul Reading Rock Festival din 1986 (Power and the Glory, Rock the Nations, Waiting for the Night). Un detaliu interesant este că în timpul înregistrării albumului în același studio a lucrat și Elton John, care a participat pe piesele Party Til You Puke și Northern Lady.
La momentul lansării albumului, Saxon era format din șase membri: Biff Byford (voce), Paul Quinn și Graham Oliver (chitară), Steve Dawson și Paul Johnson (chitară bas), precum și Nigel Glockler (tobe).
